Spring Quarter 2008

Clinical Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (CPP&T) Spring 2008

Positions: 6
Stipend: $600
Credit Hours: 150
Duties Required: Attend all class sessions. Assist with labs. Prepare section evaluation summaries from student feedback. Prepare/conduct review sessions as needed.
Special Requirements: Top 20% in CPP&T class two years prior and/or by invitation only.

Epidemiology & Clinical Investigation Spring 2008

Positions: 2
Stipend: $1000
Credit Hours: N/A
Duties Required: Attend all class sessions. Be available for Q & A from the students. Review exams and quizzes before administered to students. Help organize and run the small group discussions. Other duties as required.
Special Requirements: Completion of a Masters of Public Health or similar training in research design is required.

Neurobiology Spring 2008

Stipend: $1500
Credit Hours: 150
Duties Required: Run labs and discussion groups. Set up and clean up samples in lab. Grade quizzes and portions of exams. Estimated total hours of work for the quarter: 50.
Special Requirements: Good Performance in Neurobiology.

Neurobiology Spring 2008

Credit Hours: 150
Duties Required: Supervise TAs. Work closely with instructor. Run Labs. Clean up sections.

Summer 2008

Human Morphology Summer/Autumn 2008

Positions: 12
Stipend: $300 per week
Credit Hours: 25 credits per week
Duties Required: Help students learn the material; serve as a role-model; improve your knowledge of anatomy; attend weekly TA meetings; assist students in daily dissection labs, including putting charts and diagrams on blackboards; perform prosections; run small-group sessions with the students on surface anatomy and osteology; assist in proctoring and grading exams; provide feed-back on students and on strengths and weaknesses of the course.
Special Requirements: Excellence in anatomy
Course Schedule: The course schedule is as follows:

Summer Quarter: Lecture 1-2 p.m.; Lab 2-5 p.m.
August 4 - August 19: Embryology, back and thorax
August 20 - August 27: Abdomen
August 28 - September 8: Pelvis
September 9 - September 24: Head and Neck

Fall Quarter: Lecture 1-2 p.m.; Lab 2-5 p.m.
September 30 - October 8: Upper limb
October 13 - October 21: Lower limb

Duties Required: Lead review sessions. Assist with labs. Proctor and grade course exams.
Special Requirements: 4th year medical students or MSTP students.

Clinical Skills 1 Autumn 2008

Positions: 30
Stipend: N/A
Credit Hours: 50 credits for October and 50 credits for November
Duties Required: Quiz grading. Assist in teaching communication skills and physical exam skills. Specifically, view and provide feedback to students on their videotaped standardized patient interviews and run small group sessions discussing same. Also, attend small group sessions on physical exam instruction and assist in teaching them.
Special Requirements: Completion of Clinical skills 1 & 2.

Pharmacology Autumn 2008

Stipend: $1500
Credit Hours: 100
Duties Required: Review sessions. Attend classes. Post announcements on chalk. Create drug lists. Help in preparation of exams.
Special Requirements: High % in the Pharm exam

Winter Quarter 2009

Clinical Skills 2: Physical Diagnosis Winter 2009

Positions: 60+
Stipend: N/A
Credit Hours: 50
Duties Required: Primary goal is to teach and prepare students for their end-of-quarter head to toe physical exam. This requires weekly meetings with your small group of students. Also required: quiz grading and assistance in teaching one small group session (neuro, ortho, retina, etc.).
Special Requirements: Completion of Clinical skills 1 & 2.

Doctor Patient Relationships (Medical Ethics) Winter 2009

Duties Required: Moderate small group discussions; coordinating projects; grading final exams
Special Requirements: Special Requirements: Prefer 4th year medical students. Students apply for TA positions by sending a short paragraph describing their interest. TAs must enroll in a 50-credit-unit elective course, Advanced Medical Ethics (Medc 59506-01), which provides training for the TA role.

Social Context of Medicine Winter 2009

Stipend: $1500
Credit Hours: 100
Duties Required: TA's responsibilities include attending class (once a week), leading a total of six discussion sessions, consulting with students about the topics for their Sounding Board papers, and providing grades and useful, specific comments to students on their papers.
Special Requirements: Prefer 4th year medical students or students advanced in MD-PhD or MD-MBA training.
