Unique Features of Our School

Size

Compared with other medical schools, the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine is smaller than many of the very large institutions and this is a huge advantage for students. You cannot come to this medical school and be anonymous. You will be known – not just by your classmates – but by the faculty and housestaff as well.
- Holly Humphrey, MD '83, Dean for Medical Education

In addition to being outstanding teachers, University of Chicago faculty also lead their respective fields as clinicians and scientists. In fact, in a recent benchmark study conducted by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the University of Chicago ranked 6th in the country in terms of its per capita research funding. The University of Chicago Hospitals also regularly appears on the US News and World Report Honor Roll, a listing of the nation's top 16 hospitals. These are the same faculty who teach our students.
